PERFORMER’S NEED TO KNOW

A comedy show that has an FAQ? What in the Sam Hill? Sure maybe this feels a bit extra, but here’s the thing. We believe that Atlanta Influences Everything, but too often our most talented head to a coast to pursue opportunities currently not here. Or we have to wait for the Netflixs and the Risks of the world (or whatever your favorite shows are ) to come on tour here for a chance for local talent to shine.

Why just talk about it when we can be about it! Our desire is to create a high quality show with REPENT that showcases the best of Atlanta and elevates the talent, the people, the businesses and everything else that we know makes this city great!

So, yes, we did put together a FAQ that probably shares way more than you’d ever want to know about this show, but hopefully it’ll answer some of the burning questions you might have leading up to our first night.

What is the premise of REPENT?

The idea of this show is that our performers reveal a secret that they’ve been dying to tell. It doesn’t have to be the first time you’ve told this story, although we’ll probably tell the audience that it say it is. 🙂

There are a lot of different styles to storytelling. You’re probably been to events like the Moth or podcasts like Risk. Our show is probably closer to  This is Not Happening that ran on Comedy Central. We want you all to bring your own unique personality to the stage, so no need to try to be like anyone else.

What if my story isn’t funny?

No shade to other storytelling shows that give performers space to talk about traumatic experiences, but this is a COMEDY show, and we’re here for the laughs. That being said, we’ve been very intentional about who we book for this show. Either we already know you, or you have come highly recommended and we trust you. The last thing we want to do is to gate keep your story, but we do ask you stay away from topics such as personal trauma or anything that might still be pending in a court of law. Actually that last one could be pretty funny. Lawyer up and proceed at your own risk.

How much time will I have?

Each performer will have roughly 10 minutes to tell their story. We realize some stories may run a little shy of that and some possibly a little longer. If you think your story is either much longer or shorter of 10 minutes, let us know beforehand and we’ll try to accommodate or coach you through that.

Will I be paid?

Yes, we are paying all performers $40 for their live performance. We will most likely pay with Venmo or Zelle. If neither of those work for you, we’ll find a way to get you your moolah!

How many people will be there?

We’re hoping to pack it out! We expect at least 50 for our first show. Skewed Orbits seats 75 people.

Will you be doing any marketing?

Absolutely, in the next few days we will be rolling out our marketing campaign which will include social posts, flyering, PR etc. So get us your pics as soon as possible. Share the promo. Tell your friends. Hell, tell your enemies! If you have a platform where we can promote let us know we’d love to collaborate with you.

Also give us a follow on IG @repentstories so we can share posts with you.

Will you be filming the show?

Yes, we will be filming and we’ll have a photographer to make sure we get all your good sides and angles. So we expect you to slay. We ask that you arrive at the call time camera ready so we can mic you up and do any final looks. We ask that you DO NOT bring your own filming equipment unless we’ve discussed beforehand.

How do you plan on using the film?

Great question. We’ll put together sizzler reels and using sound bites for social to show off how great you all were and continue to promote upcoming shows. Our future and long-term goal for REPENT is to build a digital library of stories that can live on YouTube once again showing the world that Atlanta’s got something to say.

That being said, you may not want your story online and we totally get that. Please let us know and we’ll be sure not to post.

If you’re okay with us posting your story, awesome! When we get to that point, we’ll be paying an additional day rate using SAG-AFTRA guidelines for Ultra Low Budget projects andl ask that you sign a waiver giving us permission to post your full set, but again that’s a future us initiative and no need to get too worried about that now.

Where is the show?

Skewed Orbit Studios (off the belt line)
659 Auburn Ave NE, Suite 253
Atlanta, GA 30312

How much does the show cost?

Online tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.repentstories.com.
Ticket price at the door is $30

As a performer you can bring one free guest. Please let us know who this is so we can include them on the list.

Is there an age limit?

Yes, because of potential story content and our efforts to get an alcohol sponsor this show is ages 21 and up.  Know a sponsor who might want to get involved, feel free to let us know.

Is there parking?

There is a public parking deck on the backside of the building and street parking along the block.

How do I find the studio?

Enter under the Studioplex outdoor walkway. Take the first set of stairs up to the second floor. Turn right, walk through the door and it is the first unit on the right. Apologies, Studioplex is NOT ADA compliant but there is an elevator and accessible options within the building. Please let us know if you’ll need further assistance here.

What if something comes up and I can’t do the show?

Hey we get it, sometimes life be life-ing. We do ask that you let us know ASAP! Of course no one could ever replace you, but if you have a recommendation for someone to fill your spot, that’d be greatly appreciated as well.
